Space Interferomety Mission/JPL Case Study

NASA/JPL needed a dynamic test bed for the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) to  demonstrate spacecraft vibration-induced errors of a few nanometers.  They selected a  Minus K 0.4 Hz vibration isolation system for Zero-G simulation and to mitigate floorinduced vibrations into the System Test Bed 3 (STB3), which helped to achieve this  important goal.

Spitzer Space Telescope/Ball Aerospace Case Study

Low-frequency vibrations in the thermal-vacuum chamber used to test the Cryogenic  Telescope Assembly (CTA), the “eyes” of the NASA Spitzer Space Telescope, presented a  challenge.  Ball Aerospace selected a Minus K 1⁄2 Hz vacuum-compatible vibration  isolation system that successfully met this challenge.

The Manoharan Atom Manipulation Lab/Stanford University Case Study

The Manoharan Atom Manipulation Lab was designed for ultrahigh vacuum cryogenic STM’s to assemble nanostructures one atom at a time. It used multi-stage air isolation.  The first stage air isolators were replaced with ½ Hz Minus K isolators so experiments could be performed during construction of an adjacent building.
